It's new year's eve tomorrow so I thought I'd send a couple of things.
(1) Some happy memories. New Year's Eve has always had family memories for me. Tomorrow even though Pete and I won't be with you, Stacy will be there to celebrate the start of the new year with you. I particularly remember New Year's Eve throughout my teens and early 20s spent with the Williams family. Playing stations at Cyril and Betty's; searching for the cats in their wonderful sprawling house; greeting the new year of 1990 with an accidental fart and starting a tradition with cousin Karen (remembering, not recreating); standing out in the freezing snow at Phil and Ali's house, convinced that people were winding me up with this whole idea of first footing... All that to say: New Year's Eve is generally a happy time and a good time to celebrate what we have and look forward to the next year.
(2) In that spirit, I have found it useful to try to make some sort of a list of resolutions for the year each January. Nothing too complicated, but it's a useful exercise to jot down some of the things I most want to try to do over the year, whether it's to travel to a new place, lose a little weight, break a personal best at running, look after a baby, or improve something at work. I end up with a short list of goals for the year and it helps focus on what I think are really important to me right now. The act of writing them down helps more than just thinking about them. You might like to give it a go.
Talk soon. Love,
Paul, Elizabeth and Aurora xx
